Oh my stars!

Isn't it funny how a memory can completely fade from your mind, and then someone else can bring it up and you wonder how you ever forgot it in the first place?  You wonder what memories there are floating around in other people's minds about you.  And it's not like you can control it.  You can't command them to forget what they remember about you, regardless whether you remember it or not.  I guess that is why you want to watch what you do and say in life because your actions and words invariably live on in someone else's mind.  These kinds of things are what can lead to avoidance, the fact that you can't make a person forget.  So instead you just stay away, like that is gonna make the thing unhappen.  Sorry, that doesn't work.

How about a good memory?  I remember my second trip to California with my family.  I was about 15 years old and really didn't want to go because it meant a long time away from my boyfriend, whom I had to practically be surgically removed from and also probably didn't trust that much (let's face it, didn't trust at all).  But, once we got going and I knew I had no choice, I threw myself into enjoying the trip.  Armed with my trusty walkman which played cassette tapes (no cd's back then), I made an awesome Road Trip Mix.  It was a mixture of INXS, Level 42, OMD, Yaz, New Order, Breathe and many other 80's favs.  The drive was really long, but the music helped immensely.  The trip proved to be a memorable one.  We drove through Beverly Hills and walked on the stars of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  We even visited the famous Fredricks of Hollywood where I got to see some pretty interesting things that I had never seen before, and have not since (that's my story and I'm sticking to it).  The whole while we were there I was hoping to see a celebrity, which didn't happen, except for when I looked in the mirror (tee hee).  Oh, and if you were feeling sorry for that boyfriend back home recovering from the separation surgery, well,  I think he got a post card or two.
